About Laurentien

For over 50 years, Laurentien has been a trusted partner to Canadian schools, specializing in student planners and yearbooks. From file verification to transportation, every step of our manufacturing process takes place within Canada, ensuring your personal information remains secure and local.

Partnering with over 1,700 schools nationwide, we deliver nearly one million yearbooks and student planners annually. With our francophone roots, we offer fully bilingual services and tools, meeting the needs of our diverse clientele. Our commitment to long-term relationships with schools has allowed us to grow together, supporting the evolving needs of Canadian education.

Our History

A Passion for Print

Laurentien was founded in 1971 by a fine arts and printing enthusiast. Originally a small family business in the Laurentien borough of St-Augustin-de-Desmaures, Quebec, the company quickly gained recognition for its excellence, earning multiple Gutenberg Awards for contributions to the art of print. Our original clients included small and medium-sized businesses, government organizations, and schools seeking high-quality printed materials.

A Focus on Schools

Over time, our focus shifted to education, collaborating with school boards across Quebec and eventually all of Canada. We developed a reputation for creating exceptional yearbooks and student planners, forming lasting partnerships with schools and educational institutions nationwide.

The Story Behind our Dalmatian

Boogie, our founder’s loyal Dalmatian, was more than a pet—he was the heart of our office, embodying trust, teamwork, and dedication. His playful spirit and unwavering loyalty became a natural symbol of our mission to support schools with care and commitment. Today, Boogie represents the genuine bonds we strive to build with every partnership, reminding us of the values that guide everything we do.

Laurentien and Marquis: A Stronger Future

In 2012, Laurentien joined the Marquis Book Printing family, aligning with over 600 industry experts and state-of-the-art production facilities. Together, we provide schools with innovative, cost-effective solutions for yearbooks, planners, and other educational projects, ensuring every product exceeds expectations.

Largest Production Capacity in Canada

As a division of Marquis Book Printing, a leader in Canada’s printing industry for over 80 years, Laurentien is proud of its Canadian heritage. We employ 600 Canadians annually in addition to partnering with Canadian companies to manufacture our products. We have over 500, 000 square feet of production capacity, which translates to over 100 million books printed annually. Our stable domestic supply chain allows us to meet commitments and exceed customer expectations, even as the industry evolves.

Over the years we have cultivated stable and long term partnerships with various Canadian companies located near our clients and production facilities. Annual reviews and strategic planning sessions ensure the ongoing improvement and readiness for each production season.

Embracing Ecological Sustainability

Environmental sustainability is a core value at Laurentien. We strive to minimize our environmental footprint at every stage—from paper use and printing to binding and logistics. Highlights of our sustainable practices include:

    • Recycling 100% of paper waste.
    • Printing on demand to reduce overproduction.
    • Using water-based, chlorine-free inks that are easier to recycle.
    • Launching the Ecoplus student planner, featuring nearly zero plastic and produced entirely in one location to minimize transportation.
    • Locating our facilities and subcontractors near customers to reduce carbon emissions.
    • We are proud to partner with EcoSchools Canada and maintain a long list of eco-certifications.

Supporting Community: Our Shared Focus

Empowering Young Readers

Through our Youth Readership Program, we support literary events, awards, and activities from coast to coast—from the Atlantic Book Awards to the Whistler Writers Festival. If you spot Laurentien at an event, you’ll likely find free children’s books available for attendees.

Supporting Individuals with Functional Limitations

We’re proud to collaborate with organizations employing individuals with special needs. These partners assemble and spiral-bind all our student planners, creating meaningful work opportunities and fostering a sense of accomplishment. These partnerships have flourished for over 20 years, and we are committed to continuing them for years to come.

Supporting Local Non-Profit Organizations

Laurentien provides complimentary space in our student planners for non-profits aligned with our values. We proudly feature organizations like Alloprof, which supports homework assistance, and EcoSchools Canada, which promotes eco-friendly habits. By showcasing these groups, we aim to enrich students’ educational experiences.
