Linking Photos to Write-ups
Before you begin, please ensure the following:
Your photos have been uploaded to Boogie Yearbook.
The photo folder for each topic category should exclusively contain your final photos. For instance, if you possess three graduation photos per student, you will be required to delete two of them; otherwise, Boogie will generate a topic for every photo, resulting in an excess of two!
Separate photo folders have been designated for teachers, non-teaching staff, and support staff.
The names of your image files includes the first and last names of the individuals depicted.
All image files are named using the same naming standard. For instance, either all "first name, last name" or all "last name, first name," or all "IMG8065_firstname-lastname." Discrepancies in naming could lead to mismatches between names and photographs.
How to link photos to write-ups - Configuration
In order to link photos with the associated texts, you must ensure that the image files are accessible through the "Texts" editor menu. Follow these steps:
- Click on the Configuration menu.
- Choose the Images tab. Click on the pencil icon and select the appropriate file name that corresponds to the photos you wish to link.
- Click "OK". This action will make the image folder available.
- If you have multiple images, such as baby pictures, repeat steps 2-3 for each image.
- Once finished, click "Close".
Choose the Best Method for You
If you receive the photos after all the write-ups are written:
- Choose the type of topic to be associated with the photos. If applicable, also select the category where the topics are located.
- Check the "Associate images with existing topics" box.
- Uncheck the "Create new topics based on image names" box.
- Check the "Link image" box.
- Choose the image folder where the photos intended for use are located.
- Input the exact character combination that matches the image file name precisely. All characters are important, even spaces.
- If more than one image should be associated with the same topic, click on the "Next Image" button and replicate the preceding 3 steps. Repeat these steps for all pictures that require association.
- Click “Next.”
If all your photos are uploaded in Boogie Yearbook before students begin their write-ups:
- Choose the type of topic to be associated with the photos. If applicable, also select the category where the topics are located.
- Uncheck the "Associate images with existing topics" box.
- Check the "Create new topics based on image names" box.
It can be a practical approach for sections with several photos linked to one name only, without text, such as the staff sections featuring students from non-graduate years.
If you have some photos in Boogie Yearbook and some texts in Boogie Texts:
Boogie will link photos to existing topics and create new topics for photos that don't correspond to any existing topic.
- Choose the type of topic to be associated with the photos. If applicable, also select the category where the topics are located.
- Check the "Associate images with existing topics" box.
- Check the "Create new topics based on image names" box.
Verify the link list
Found names
This is the list of topics that will be created from image names.
Existing Topics
This is the list of photos linked to existing topics.
New Topics
This is the topic list that will be created from the image names. A topic will be created only if the box is checked.
Other Topics
This is the list of topics for which Boogie has not identified a corresponding image.
Red lines indicate potential errors. These can often arise if the file name includes compound names separated by spaces, such as "Laurie Ann Bolduc." Please verify that names are correctly organized under the "Last name" and "First name" columns.
The fields under the "Last name" and "First name" columns on the "Topics to be created" tab can be modified. You will be able to make the necessary corrections if Boogie has not properly separated the names into first names and last names.
After confirming the lists, ensure that all the intended links are appropriately chosen, and then click "OK." This should establish links between all photos and their corresponding topics.
